#SipSwap

As much as I love to write, without coffee, I’m useless, especially first thing in the morning. I love coffee. And I really like mugs. Even though I have a whole bunch of mugs, I can always use more. So when Kelsey Macke tweeted about #sipswap–a cool idea she had to for writers to exchange mugs,  like Secret Santa–I was in.

When I got my mug, I LOVED it! One of the things I put on the questionnaire was that I love fairy tales, because my current novel is a fairy tale retelling. If you look closely, you can see the picture shows Alice and the Mad Hatter (with the dormouse!) sharing tea. The other side says ‘Mad Love’ which implies a little romance between Alice and the Hatter. Hmmm. Intriguing. Anyway, Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite classic stories, because it’s so weird and quirky.

To find a mug for my sipswap recipient, Trisha, I needed to know a little more about her, in addition to what was on her questionnaire, so I followed her on Twitter. From her Twitter icon and a few of her posts, I knew she liked Princess Merida from the Disney movie Brave. I took a gamble, hoping she wouldn’t think I was lame for sending her a Disney Princess mug, but she liked it! So that made me feel great!

This was a really fun thing to do and I hope it becomes an annual tradition!
